There’s no denying the fact that Wisconsin has a drinking problem. And while many Madisonians choose to spend their weekends out at the bars, a rising number of young adults are ditching the booze on their nighttime adventures.
Whether you’re sober, sober-curious, or just looking to save some money while out and about, here are some of Madison’s best spots for non-alcoholic drinks.
The Best Bars
Blindshot Social Club has one the largest non-alcoholic bar programs in the state. Located on Madison’s east side, Blindshot has a mocktail menu just as robust as its cocktail offerings. Bonus: the food is good, and if you’re into golf, they have simulators.
Looking for something really unique? Check out Imaginary Factory. This hole-in-the-wall on the east side is the place of dreams. Its glowing white interior emphasizes the bright colors of the cocktails and mocktails that are served and the space often plays host to pop-up art events, food trucks, and more.
Other notable spots: Nitro Beverage Lounge, Cordial, I/O Arcade Bar, Muskellounge, and Dark Star Art Bar.
The Best Restaurants
Many of Madison’s top restaurants have built up their non-alcoholic offerings over the years. Downtown spots like Merchant, Lucille, and Little Palace have all started shaking in-house mocktail creations. Atwood’s Mint Mark also offers a full mocktail menu, as do both Eno Vino locations.
The Rest of the Best
Aside from restaurants and bars, there are several local breweries and distilleries that offer non-alcoholic beverages. Some fan favorites include Waunakee’s Octopi Brewing, which is home to Untitled Art’s many non-alcoholic beers and seltzers; Karben4, the home to Wisco Pop Soda and Sparkle unsweetened waters; And Stateline Distillery, which makes glycerin-based versions of its spirits that are alcohol-free.
