🗳️ Rodriguez Bows Out, Crowley Taps In

• Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez announced on Friday she is no longer seeking the Democratic nomination in the race for Wisconsin Governor. The announcement came after significant issues with Rodriguez’s financial management were discovered last week.
• On the flip side, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley officially revived his campaign Saturday after dropping out of the race July 8.
• Crowley's reentry means there are still five Democrats in the running, including former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, former secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Administration Joel Brennan, state Rep. Francesca Hong, and state Sen. Kelda Roys. The Republicans in the race are U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany and medical services technician Andy Manske.

🏫 School Renaming Committees Narrows Options

• The Madison School Board is considering new names for two district schools: Elvehjum Elementary and Lindbergh Elementary. The naming committees for each school are now tasked with narrowing down the long lists of names and presenting the school board with up to four names.
• On the list for both schools are Ada Deer Elementary, Gaylord Nelson Elementary, and Jeffrey Clay Erlanger Elementary. Additional options for Elvehjum include DeJope Elementary, Harriet Tubman Elementary, and Lucia Nuñez Elementary. Additional options for Lindbergh include Clyde Stubblefield Elementary, Sandhill Crane Elementary, Song Kue Elementary, and Wiix (Duck) Elementary.

➡️ City Transportation Considers More ‘No Turn on Red’

• When you come to a red light and are turning right, the rules of the road say you can make the turn after coming to a complete stop and yielding to oncoming traffic. That is of course if there’s not a “No Turn on Red” sign or signal. But according to the city’s assistant director of Traffic Engineering Tom Mohr, the roads might be safer if “no turn on red” was the norm.
• Last week, city transportation leaders discussed the use of “no turn on red” signs as a way to prevent accidents, especially those involving cyclists and pedestrians. The meeting was purely for education and discussion, so there are no new changes to traffic rules as a result. [WORT, New 3]
