| 🍚 Hong Kong Cafe Will Close at End of Month | - Hong Kong Cafe is closing on July 31. The Cantonese restaurant on the corner of Regent and South Mills has been run by the Leung siblings for more than 30 years. They put the restaurant up for sale in December 2024, but Terry Leung told the Cap Times, “right now, no one is buying the restaurant.”
- Illinois-based Peerless Development has approval to demolish Hong Kong Cafe and neighboring Choles Floral to build a six-story apartment building with ground-floor commercial space and more than a hundred apartment units. [Cap Times, 🔒 Wisconsin State Journal]
| | ✅ Evers Endorses Crowley in Democratic Primary | - Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley reentered the Democratic Primary race for Wisconsin Governor over the weekend. Crowley’s announcement was quickly followed by an endorsement from Gov. Tony Evers.

| | | | Meet bonded pair, Buddy and Cookie. Buddy, 13 years, and Cookie, 11 years, both Bichon Frise mixes, came to DCHS in mid-June because their family is facing health challenges. Don’t let their ages fool you – these seniors still have plenty of pep! They love going for walks and hikes, playing in the yard, soaking up attention, and gobbling treats. They’re wiggly, happy, housebroken, and even sleep through the night like pros. Since arriving at DCHS, both have had dental procedures to remove teeth, helping them feel more comfortable. These best friends are looking for a home where they can stay together. They’d do best as the only dogs in the home so they can soak up all the adventures, cozy naps, and love. | | Since they’ve been at DCHS for a bit, the pair are members of our Lonely Hearts Club and their adoption fees have been waived.
