On the City Cast Madison podcast today, host Bianca Martin takes a spa day and talks to Roshelle Ritzenthaler, co-owner of Saunaday, a new Madison business that melds ancient bathhouse traditions with modern design and conveniences to calm the mind and restore the spirit.

Here are a few other places in Madison (and one just out of town) to take your next spa day. Check out these spots on Overlook Maps!

Located in the Garver Feed Mill, owner Shilpa Sankaran draws from Ayurveda, an ancient Indian practice of natural healing that roughly translates to “the science of healing. Kosa combines massages and facial treatments with masala chai and golden tea. Kosa also offers a “social wellness club” that includes a hot stone sauna and cold rain plunge.

Whether you’re staying at Madison’s iconic hotel or just visiting, the spa offers a variety of massages, facials and other wellness treatments for both couples and individuals. Pair your treatment with a yoga class on the pier overlooking Lake Mendota.

Overlooking a beautiful prairie landscape in Fitchburg, this destination wellness spa offers facials and skin care, massages, manicures and pedicures, and personal training and nutrition coaching for long-term physical well-being.

Take the plunge and enjoy a flotation therapy experience in one of Float’s private, soundproof float rooms or pods, where skin-temperature mineral-rich Epsom Salt water relaxes joints and muscles and relieves the senses.

This day spa in Sun Prairie offers massages, facials and skin care treatments, brow and lash enhancements, and waxing services. Renewed Spirit also has an academy on-site to train the next generation of aestheticians, massage therapists, and entrepreneurs.

Located in the Gateway building on Willy Street, A Healer’s Hand mixes Eastern healing practices with advanced techniques. They’ve been recognized in particular for their emphasis on pre-partum and post-partum healing.

Located up in Wisconsin Dells, this one is a bit of a drive, but definitely worth making a day out of (or an overnight stay). Sundara recently made USA Today’s Reader’s Choice Top 10 list for spa resorts, offering massages, facials, and body and nail treatments in a luxurious environment. Sundara has more than 40 suites, purifying bath rituals, a dining area, a wellness center, and even an adjacent golf course.
