Madison’s Hottest Food Trend? Vegetables!

00:00:00

This one’s dedicated to all you plant eaters, plant lovers, and curious carnivores considering balancing out your plate with more veggies!

It’s the tastiest time to be vegan and try vegan in Madison, according to Lindsay Christians, who spoke with us on the increasing number of vegan options in town. She shared her favorite tips for feeding the vegan in your life, and how we all might consider eating more veggies. Here are some of her recs:

🌽 For the Hardcore Vegan:

Check out Jardin on East Washington Avenue. Lindsay is a big fan of the lobster casarecce, a pasta made with lion’s mane and lobster mushrooms, and a creamy white wine sauce that Lindsay says makes vegans nervous because it’s so dang creamy! They’ve also got pozole, mole flatbread, and a squash green curry, among other tasty globally-inspired dishes on their menu.

🥘 When Dining with a Mixed Group:

Aim for a great Indian, Thai, or Nepalese restaurant, such as Himal Chuli on State Street, which offers dishes for meat eaters, vegan diners, and everyone in between. Himal Chuli’s menu is organized by non-vegetarian and vegetarian options. During these winter months, try the quati, a Nepalese soup made with nine kinds of beans, ginger, and Nepali herbs believed to prevent colds.

🍠 Where to Eat to Ease Your Way into Vegan Dining:

JustVeggiez on State Street is serving up vegan takes on soulful comfort food. The menu is designed to be accessible for the new, adventurous, and curious vegan eater. Dine in or order their dishes to feast at home, from their plant-based shrimp po boy, Reuben sandwich, teriyaki bowl, and more.
